DuPont Nomex is an aramid paper used primarily as a dielectric insulator in systems operating at high temperatures. Nomex aramid paper has been classified as a Class C (220°C) insulator by Underwriters Laboratories (file no. E34739) and all the major certifying bodies in the world. Consumption charts for insulation materials show that an insulation system based on 'Nomex' paper has a service life of more than 20,000 man-hours at the temeperature of 220°C.

Properties of Nomex®

Nomex aramid paper significantly reduces the number and likelihood of electrical machine failures and also protects them from the occurrence of electrical overloads. Nomex is further characterised by its resistance to:

  • cryogenic temperatures,
  • moisture,
  • radiation,
  • fire and the non-toxic fumes it causes.

Nomex® is a registered trademark of DuPont.
